Glazing
It is a general principal that the less glazing in a door the stronger it will be. This is true, but we cannot underestimate the advantage of having glazing in security social housing situations. Glazing allows people on the inside to perceive a threat on the outside. Hooligans who like to gather in groups prefer not to be ‘on view’ and in areas where there is a lot of light and illumination. The PS1000 door glazing system allows for alternative glazing panels to suit the particular threat level. Toughened or laminated glass is good for lower risk areas, but on schemes where vandalism is a particular problem then polycarbonate would be recommended. The narrow glazing pattern of the classic PS1000 means that the panels are rigid and will not break. Other panels to use in lieu of glazing include perforated plate and solid metal panels. Variations are available on the PS1000 design where a softer approach is required. This normally entails the glazing panels being larger than the PS1000 classic.
