Fire protection is a fundamental concern within any building, including fire resistance in its doors, windows, glazing and walling. Pensher Skytech design, manufacture and install all of its fire resistant products.
Pensher Skytech’s Fire resistant products include:
Curtain Wall | Augmented Commercial Steel Systems | Protectex
The classifications for fire resistance are linked to the time that a unit can resist the fire maintaining either integrity or insulation, or both. It is important to recognise the term ‘fire resistant’ instead of ‘fire proof’ because the latter suggests a product that will resist fire indefinitely, however ‘fire resistant’ is the correct term to define a product which will resist fire for a certain period of time. The period of time during which a product must resist fire is typically determined in accordance with building fire management plans and escape routes.
For example, when testing fire resistance, the door must resist a constant heat in excess of a certain time, often 30, 60 or 120 minutes. An ‘integrity only’ unit will remain as a physical barrier to the passage of fire but will not prevent heat transfer. An ‘integrity and insulating unit’ will prevent the passage of fire and prevent transfer of heat. Doors with windows can also be tested, and again it needs to be clear that ‘fire proof glass’ is not the correct terminology, instead ‘fire resistant glass’ reflects the true nature of the product and its materials.
Pensher Skytech’s Augmented Commercial Systems can provide fire resistance for up to two hours integrity and insulation. For higher security and bespoke units we conduct fire door testing to meet our client’s specifications.
