Ballistic protection in buildings and structures is essential when protecting life, property and infrastructure against the potential threat of armed attack.
Pensher Skytech’s ballistic resistant products include:
Our ballistic armour technology is currently tested to EN1063 BR7 – 7.62x51mm P80 AP rounds
Ballistic resistance is important in glass/glazing and access points where an attacker may seek to pose a threat with a gun. Producing ballistic resistant units is down to the quality of the materials, glass, glazing and manufacturing process and the construction of the unit. The design is tailored to prevent bullets with the European standard EN 1063 outlined in the table below.
It is important to note that Ballistic rated units (more commonly known as bullet proof windows, bullet proof doors and bullet proof screens) are not entirely ‘bullet proof’ – it is dependent on what you call a bullet. A bullet can be a small 0.22 calibre round or it can be as big as a shell from a tank. You can never provide a ‘bullet proof’ unit; instead the aim is to assess the potential threat to life, from armed robbery to terrorist attack. You must determine the weapon that presents the highest risk and defend against that.
The European standards have been developed with this in mind, and the highest level in this standard is BR7 armour piercing high velocity rounds. Beyond BR7 the specifications start to enter the military realm where the STANAG 4569 standards are used. Whilst Pensher Skytech currently has ballistic resistant doors tested to BR7 level, the Renown Group has experience producing units to the high levels specified under STANAG 4569.
Pensher Skytech products and experience coupled with Renown Group’s 25 years of defence industry knowledge places us in an exceptional position to be able to provide high levels of bullet resistance. Our facility has the resources to laser cut armour plate thus minimising joint lines and protecting susceptible areas to ballistic penetration.
